Tim Reed Suits Up With ROKA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DALLAS, Texas. September 5, 2013 -- ROKA Sports, Inc. is thrilled to announce a multi-year sponsorship and partnership with Ironman 70.3 Champion and ITU Long Distance Champion Tim Reed.
"I'm trilled to come aboard." said pro triathlete Tim Reed. "Since being clad in the new ROKA Maverick Pro wetsuit, I’m swimming drastically better and racing at a new level."
"Tim is an awesome addition to our pro team." said ROKA CEO and Co-Founder Rob Canales.
"Tim brings both great talent and personality to ROKA. He's already an accomplished athlete and fierce competitor with lofty goals and great coaching. We're excited to support him as he sharpens his swim weapon to compliment his already monster bike and run. Tim is a true professional and family man, but he isn't afraid to bring his own unique individuality and passion to the sport. You'll often see him in the lead pack rocking a trucker hat, mustache and fluorescent swim brief."
Co-Founder Kurt Spenser added, "When we first met Tim, he told us that he was a tough customer - extremely hard to fit and to please when it came to wetsuits. We love a challenge from athletes like Tim, pro or amateur, who take the performance of their gear so seriously. We do, too. It's why we started ROKA."
Tim "Timbo" Reed hails from Lord Howe Island, Byron Bay, Australia and splits the year between Australia and Boulder, Colorado. He joins ROKA's growing ranks of sponsored triathletes, led by three-time Wildflower Champion Jesse Thomas, two-time Olympian and World Championship Medalist Laura Bennett, 5x Ironman Champion Meredith Kessler, and many other pros and top elite triathletes realizing the benefit of ROKA's unmatched performance.
Canales noted, "Tim recently wore ROKA's Maverick Pro Wetsuit at Ironman 70.3 Yeppoon and at Ironman 70.3 Vineman, where he finished first and second overall, respectively. We look forward to seeing him race in our Viper Pro swimskin this weekend at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. ROKA athletes have finished 'First Out of the Water' and have won or made the podium in an incredible number of races this season; we take pride in the performance of our team and are deadly serious about the performance of our products. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Tim."
Spenser added, "Our biggest challenge at ROKA was making the fastest wetsuit possible that worked for elite as well as non-elite swimmers. After years of development we finally cracked the code with the Maverick Pro. This season, we've been just as thrilled to see non-elite swimmers like Tim Reed and Jesse Thomas make the lead swim pack or the first chase group, with less effort, in the ROKA Maverick Pro as we were to see Laura Bennett clock the fastest overall swim time at Ironman 70.3 Raleigh (beating all the professional men as well) or Meredith Kessler win the swim at Ironman New Zealand by over four minutes....races that all of those athletes went on to win."
In addition to the Maverick Pro fullsuit and Viper Pro swimskin, Tim will wear ROKA's innovative SIM Pro shorts and other racing and training products currently in development.
ABOUT ROKA SPORTS
ROKA is a performance multisport brand that was founded in 2011 by Rob Canales and Kurt Spenser, two former varsity swimmers from Stanford University, who, after being frustrated by the wetsuit offerings on the market, set out to make the fastest wetsuit on the planet. After two years of product development, the ROKA team launched their patent-pending Maverick wetsuit line this season. While designing the Maverick, the ROKA team also developed a neoprene short for training, called the SIM. ROKA is based in Dallas, Texas with employees in Los Angeles, California and Portland, Oregon. Learn more at www.rokasports.com.
