ROKA Signs 2x World Champion & Olympic Bronze Medalist Emma Moffatt
January 29, 2014
ROKA Sports, Inc. - Dallas, Texas. ROKA Sports, Inc. is pleased to announce a multi-year sponsorship with Olympic Bronze Medalist and 2x ITU World Champion Emma Moffatt through the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero.
"I’m very excited to work with ROKA,” Moffatt said. “Swimming in my ROKA suits is an amazing feeling. No other suit I've worn before has the comfort and flexibility, which is a great combination for a speedy swim!”
ROKA CEO and Co-Founder Rob Canales said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Emma to ROKA. We had the pleasure of working unofficially with her last season and supporting her wins at Hy-Vee and Noosa as well as her First Out of the Water and Bronze medal at the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final. This year, we’re excited to formalize our relationship and support Emma’s attempt to become the first triathlete in history to win the ITU WTS World Championship and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in the same year.”
ROKA’s Co-Founder Kurt Spenser added, “Emma is one of the most dominating athletes on the ITU circuit, with two world championships under her belt. Last year Emma had three ITU World Triathlon Series podiums and with big wins at Hy-Vee, Nepean and Noosa, she’s demonstrated that she is a legitimate threat to win any race she enters. Emma doesn’t have any weaknesses on the course. While she typically leads from the swim, she can also gap up on the bike or run you down. She’s a fantastic ambassador for ROKA and truly represents our relentless pursuit of excellence. We were flattered that she opted to wear our suits last year without contract at a number of high value events, and that reinforces our belief in the quality and performance of our products.”
Moffatt’s management team at BPM Sport noted “Emma gave us a very clear brief for 2014 after trying out ROKA last year. She wanted to race with ROKA and no one else as she is focused on always training and racing with the best possible equipment. We were pleased to work with the team at ROKA to put in place a multi-year arrangement that will assist Emma to remain at front of the pack for years to come.”
Moffatt hails from the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, and splits time between home, various international training camps, and Boulder, CO. She races for Australia with ROKA Pro Ashleigh Gentle and joins ROKA’s growing team of champion female pros, including 2x Olympian Laura Bennett, 11x Iron-distance and 3x 70.3 Champion Gina Crawford, 70.3 World Champion Julie Dibens, 5x Ironman Champion Meredith Kessler, Ironman and Challenge Roth Champion and 2013 Kona Runner-up Rachel Joyce, 4x Ironman Champion Amy Marsh, 2x 70.3 World Champion Mel Hauschildt, and others soon to be announced.
Moffatt will wear ROKA’s Maverick Pro Wetsuit, Viper Pro Speed Suit, SIM Pro Shorts and other racing and training products in development.
ABOUT ROKA SPORTS
ROKA is a performance multisport brand that was founded in 2011 by two former All-American swimmers from Stanford University, who, after being frustrated by the wetsuit offerings on the market, set out to make the fastest wetsuit on the planet. After two years of product development, the ROKA team launched their patent-pending Maverick wetsuit, Viper swimskin and SIM short line in March 2013. ROKA products have seen widespread acceptance by elite and developing swimmers alike. In 2013, ROKA pro athletes finished first out of the water at the Ironman World Championship, the ITU WTS Grand Final, the Hy-Vee 5150 Elite Cup Championship, several Ironman® and Ironman® 70.3 races, and more. ROKA is based in Dallas, Texas with employees in California and Colorado.
Moffatt is represented by Evan Gallagher at BPM Sport Athlete Management (BAM).
